0 Goddess Uma Condemned by Lord Shiva

Presentation of creative and innovative arts graced the final assignment examination of Performing Arts Faculty (FSP), the Indonesia Institute of Arts (ISI) Denpasar in May 2011. A variety of relatively new ideas were totally worked on until producing an attractive works of art.

Through the years, the works of students are very creative and there is always something new. They are able to present several amazing works of art, ranging from classical, new creation to contemporary ones, said the Dean of Faculty of Performing Arts, I Ketut Garwa, in the midst of performance related to the final examination taking place in Natya Mandala Hall, in the Campus of ISI Denpasar.

The examination lasted for three days (May 24-27) and participated by 60 students. Department of Dance presented 22 students, Gamelan Music (27) and Puppetry (4). Meanwhile, the field of assessment was taken by four students of Department of Dance, one student of Gamelan Music and two others of Puppetry Department.

One of the works composed by the students entitled Jnapaka. This performance told about harmonization between teachers and students arranged in a dazzling composition. Similarly, the appearance of gong kebyar entitled Lampah Semara or the journey of love was expressed through an attractive and absorbing medium of gong kebyar gamelan music.

Another dance entitled Strisadhu composed by Ni Komang Septri Ariarti won an enthusiastic applause from the audience flooding the Natya Mandala Hall. The dance highlighted the story on the curse afflicting Goddess Uma to Durga because of her disloyalty to the Lord Shiva.

A cultural observer, I Made Seraya, accompanied by other observers such as IWM Aryasa, Dewa Made Ngakan Sayang, Arsaja, and Ketut Arini stated his admiration to the works of art composed by young artists graduated from ISI Denpasar. The examinees were very tenacious in preparing and presenting their best composition.
