Muslim intellectual Anies Baswedan has been tapped to lead an ethics panel set up to probe the leak of a classified document from within the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The panel, which consists of Anies, Abdul Muhfti Fajar, KPK commissioner Bambang Widjojanto, former KPK chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean and former commissioner Abdullah Hehamahua, held its first meeting on Wednesday.
"We made an outline of what we are going to do," Anies said as quoted by tribunnews.com. Anies said that before questioning anyone, the panel would study the results of an internal KPK investigation regarding the leak, which threatens to jeopardize the commission's credibility. The leaked document was a draft letter ordering an investigation into the role played by former Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum in the Hambalang graft case.
