The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated Anggoro Widjojo in Jakarta on Thursday evening upon his arrival from China, where he was arrested after being wanted by the KPK since 2009 as a corruption suspect. Anggoro arrived at the KPK building handcuffed and escorted by a number of police officers.
The brother of Anggodo Widjojo, who is in prison in connection with Anggoro's case, did not say a word to reporters upon arrival, Antara news agency reported. He was carrying six bags but their contents were not revealed. The Indonesian Immigration Office and the KPK worked with the Chinese police in Zhenzhen, leading to the wanted suspect being arrested on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Law and Human Rights Minister Denny Indrayana said in a text message on Thursday.
Anggoro is a graft suspect in connection to the procurement of an integrated radio communication system (SKRT) and has been on the run since June 19, 2009. The former director of PT Masaro Radiokom allegedly bribed a number of House of Representatives members such as Al-Amin Nur Nasution, Azwar Chesputra, Hilman Indra and Fachri Andi Leluasa to ensure that the government revived the Forestry Ministry’s SKRT project, according to Antara. PT Masaro was the ministry's supplier of equipment for the SKRT project since 2007. The project was worth Rp180 billion.
