Bali earned US$24.77 million from furniture exports during the period of January to October last year, a decrease of 16.13 percent from $29.53 million from the previous year, Antara news agency reported. “However, export volume increased by 10.34 percent from 9.83 million units in January to October 2012 to 10.85 million units in the same period last year,” Ketut Teneng, provincial administration spokesman, said Friday.
There are 17 types of furniture made in Bali that penetrate the global market, including those made from bamboo and stone. Revenue from furniture exports fluctuate, depending on the global market situation, although in general products from Bali remain popular. Ketut was upbeat, considering the global economic condition is getting better, revenue would increase.
